Welcome
Welcome to Maribella Dexter!
"The trouble with growing up is that one tends to loose the fun in things. Luckily though, I have found a game, which I enjoy playing 24/7 - art. Each new piece of work is an experiment with paint, mediums and finishings. Each creation is a surprise to me - some I like, some I don't - some get blacked-out. All the meanwhile my imagination can run wild. I can express dreams, fantasies, impressions and emotions freely, let the energy flow - without questions ask, a blank canvas does not criticise nor judge. This is my game and I make the rules. I use acrylics because they give me the freedom to paint quickly and to layer different elements of a painting. I use mediums and fabrics because sometimes paint just isn't enough. Resin is one of my favourite finishings because the way it looks when dried is fascinating to me. I exhibition my work because I like to look at people looking at my paintings. It is a thrill to see a piece through someone else's eyes."

Maribella Dexter
Welcome Art Lovers...
MARIBELLA DEXTER is a North London Artist who although seemingly only surfaced recently has in fact gained a good reputation through word-of-mouth over the past few years.
When Miss Dexter gave away one of her paintings as a gift, little did she know how popular her work would become. Within the first year she had sold four more paintings and to date her fan base has been growing steadily, despite the fact that no open publicity had been put into place until late Summer 2008. Still, Miss Dexter's work is only available straight from the source, although the paintings can be viewed at various exhibitions throughout the year. Her last solo exhibition has just been completed in early 2009. Please email for further information.
Maribella's work is extremely varied and although it is mostly abstract, it is not based upon any one single style. The paintings are not meant to please anyone but the artist herself and still everyone will find at least one piece to their liking. Miss Dexter uses acrylic paint, water colour, different mediums, gels and resin, as well as other rather random materials mixed together on canvas or wood. None of the Dexter paintings are provided with an official explanation and as Maribella rather dislikes to share her own views on her art, her experimental designs are left open for interpretation and discussion by admirers and critics.
Maribella Dexter is inspired by dreams, emotions and London life. She likes to constantly broaden her horizon in regards to music, dance and culture to capture her view of this world. She enjoys to take-in other artists' work and to visit galleries and museums around London, Paris and Germany, but does not aspire to be like or work like anyone else but herself. Maribella has not attended art school and although she does believe that there is plenty more for her to learn, she is worried that studying art and its grand masters will lead her off her own tracks. 'Experiments rather than theory' is the motto, which applies best.
The creative process of creating a piece of work will always come before recognition, fame or money for Miss Dexter. This is why she is extremely vary of the commercialisation of her work or in fact to make it too easily accessible. Maribella has made it a principle to personally meet with any potential client before agreeing to any sale.
